Yes, this is the same casing....She is going batty. She tells be that there looks to be a couple of abhorts forming. The light is good a (20 watt day spectrum flourescent), the moisture is good, the temp is good. What the hell?

Your casing doesn`t know it`s being timed. If it did, it would have pinned by now.

Yes, cultivation is a lesson in patience, and patience is the longest lesson you`ll ever learn.

Shizifty,
You say you leave the light off until the first pins? I thought light was what initiated pinning. How long does it take to get pins with the light off? I grew loafs of the same strain and they started pinning 5 days after days. Harvest after 8... They are taking a lot longer on casings. That was my concern... I was thinking that something was wrong. That I had not given her the right advice...You see?

Yah I know its not "the science" but its always worked. now mind you I dont keep them in a dark closet either. I have 2 x 10 gallon terrs both clear plastic. These sit on my radiator in my living room with a towel under and an towel over both. so they do get a minor bit of light from the sides but thats it. I check for pins daily when i fan and/or mist and when i begin to see pins boom! off with the towels. Your situation is a bit different where your casing layer isnt colonizing and I can only guess thats from 2 weeks covered in a terrarium! Mist more frequently that casing layer shouldnt be drying. Are the sides of the cake pulling away from the pan at all? is there a bottom casing layer? I think moisture loss is a problem here and try the dark tek (hehe) and see if it aids further colonization. good luck!

I had a talk with her and NO the casing is not pulling away from the sides. Should she remove them from the light until the casing is more colonized?
