rabbits eating away at my cacti!!!
    #3018142 - 08/18/04 02:04 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

i've got a lil garden by a lake of some t. bridgesii and san pedro, cuttings i've recently put into the ground and they dont want to root.every few days a rabbit or something is digging up the cacti and nibbling around the base, leaving the cacti unburied, on its side in the direct sun! i've let them callous over and cut notches in the lower ribs, dipping it in root hormone but still no signs of rooting...maybe the sun is too much? i cant seem to get the damn things to root!!help please :stoned:

Try putting up some chicken wire around them.

I would try rooting them in the shade. It always works for me. Sometimes it can take a while. Putting them in the sun stresses them.

from the top of my wisdom i recommend:
root it in a vase, safe from parasites.
and get yourself some stetsonia coryne and peruvian torches to keep them away.

Root them in pots in the shade then bring them into the light after 4 weeks. Then you can trasplant into the ground once roots show out the bottom.
