My first homemade syringes - trial run?
    #3017951 - 08/18/04 01:21 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

I have just completed my first homemade spore syringes. I believe I did everything correctly and did my best to prevent cross contamination. To be certain there is no bacterical contamination in the syringes should I inoculate one or two myco bags and give them some time to incubate and then check results? I'd hate to ruin what little grain I have with a nastied up syringe. I love the way the syringes look; not too many spores, but still quite a few. They are pink buffalo in case anyone is wondering.

"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand. I ask them and they answer me. When I return from the trip that I have taken with them, I tell what they have told me and what they have shown me."

If ur method was correct I dont see any problem with using the whole syringe.

A friend told me of this method, take a Spore print, dump it into a Honey Jar / karo that has been Cooked. Open the lid and dump spores in. Let Germinate and grow, then inject a couple ML's of h202 in there. It will kill contams but not the Myc, i have no seen his set up and i have taken his word for it that it would work. Would it?

If it would i think thats a lot simpler using a liquid medium and H202 to your advantage (and time saving cause the spores are already germinated) rather than make syringes that might be contamed.

I have no glove box, so syringes i would make would most likely be contamed.

After making dozens and dozens and dozens of syringes
I found it all to be a fairly problem free thing

I have taken heavy precautions
and I have just splash some spores into a glass and shot water into it then sucked it up into the syringe.Works too

I think you are well on your way to sucess.

Of course that would work, there are many different liquid mediums you can use.
You dont need a glove box. I always use my bathroom that i spray down with lysol.
Ive used all the methods mentioned in the FAQ and alot that aren't and i havent
had 1 syringe come up bad. Being sterile is the key. Try to do all stuff quick
in single motions. I try not to be real fast and distubing the air because i feel i
cause some wind to blow foreign spores around. I also hold my breath when doing
the motions so i dont breath on my stuff. Alot of people use facemasks but i
havent gotten around to getting any.

The problem i see with a multispore innoculation is that your not using its full
potential. I think your goal here should be to start with a multispore and either
grow 1 casing out and clone a nice fruit or isolate it via multispore on ajar. I
prefer the former because that way you are assured a fruitable mylcelium.
Then you can make your liquid medium by taking a chunk of the isolate off of your
ajar and drop it into some sterile water in a sterile blender and mix that shit up
real good. Suck it up and it should be alot faster if you have picked the right
isolate to use.
Your would need a flow hood to use the ajar so you will have to make a choice
on if you want to be really efficient or not. The other ways work fine but im just
talking about what your goal could be.
