Lactarius Indigo?
    #3017683 - 08/18/04 12:14 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Does anyone know where I can obtain Lactarius Indigo spores, mycellium or even a mature mushroom itself?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not found a source for a Lactarius Indigo culture on the net.
But it seems as if they were sold on the markets in Mexico.
From where do you come? The grow in the warmer states like Florida and California ...

Guess you won't find it there. Maybe someone from the southern states could help you out with a spore print?

I live in Tennessee and they were plentiful this year. If I find any more I will give you a shout on this board or e-mail me at tnshroomin@juno.com and I can send you some.

Are you aware that this is a mycorrhizal species and cannot be cultivated in any of the standard ways?

Just wondering,
A

(nods) It is commonly found under hardwood trees.

yeah i typically find them here in florida underneath Oak trees.

as already stated, they probably cannot be cultivated (yet).

young and fresh specimens of the mushroom smell sweet, but they are not all too special for the dinner plate.

Ahhhhh.
My insatiable curiousity.

Is it too much to ask why?

What are your designs with my daughter young man!!!!

I mean, with spores of L. indigo?
Are you interested in the cultivation of mycorrhizal mushrooms?

I often have pipe dreams about designing a synthetic 'root' to which mycorrhizal fungi could attach and be fed a solution tailored to the species.

I imagine somebody will figure out how to do it some day.
