I'm gonna' guess and say that the one in the picture is atleast a 12quart job. That is a good size. You can fit lots of stuff in that. I have a 4quart mirromatic that was my Mom's. I grew up using a pressure cooker. My Mom made soup quite often, and one can cook a whole fryer chicken in one, and it will be falling off the bone tender in 20 minutes, or so, instead of a couple hours it would take boiling it non-pressured cooked. Mine works fine for sterilizing stuff, the mirro-matic comes with a round regulator so you can set it at 5, 10, or 15 pounds of pressure, and you don't have to watch a gauge. You just wait until the regulator starts jiggling, and set the burner so it jiggles intermitently. Then, start timing. the thing I do not like about mine is the size for canning/sterilizing. I can only fit 3 1/2 pint wide mouths, or 4 regular tall 1/2 pint jars in it at a time. A quart jar does not fit standing up at all, so I have to set it lying at an angle. I just bought a very used 17quart presto, with the gauge on it, but I have yet to try it. One can cook everything, and anything in a pressure cooker. soup, stews, and pot roast really comes out great in one, and so much faster. I've never even cooked a roast without one, so I'm not sure how long they usually take, but I can have one tender in about 45min.-1hour+.
Anyway, that's what I know. Be sure to ALWAYS make sure all the pressure is out before opening one. I opened one when I was a kid, that still had pressure in it, and the liquid shot up, and landed on my arm. that was quite a burn! Other than that, make sure the ' fuse' works ( the little pressure release thingy that melts out if the pressure goes too high, like if the steam cock is plugged up or something) and you should be fine. Good luck, Rxwoman.
