Colonization

AFOAF has some BRF/VERM jars he inocculated on the 8th.The jars seem about 20-30 percent colonized. How much longer do you think it will take for my friends jars to be 100% colonized? He has read that it can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks. At 8 days and 20-30% colonization,I am thinking around 8 more days.My friends friend has them incubating in a temp of 82 degrees. Also should my friends friend flip his jars yet ore wait a few more days?

IMO they will prolly slow down a bit. No need to flip them till they slow down(70-80%)I would guess the 20 day forcast is close.

Whats your temp.? It just depends on your conditions, maybe another week or 2. You can't always bank on colonizing times being by the book. You just want to flip your jars if they stall out. Be patient and sterile and you'll be happy

I thought the temp was 82.assuming this is air temp, thats pretty optimal.

yeah 82 degrees f is what they are incubating at.Pretty cool seeing as AFOAF just set them in a shoebox next to their modem. He is thinking of possibly attempting a casing even though this is his first attempt at growing mushies. What would work best in his situation as far as casing goes.Should he give it a try? Also, what would be better, cutting a fully colonized cake in half height wise and placing over damp verm bottom layer the topping with casing layer,or crumbling a cake?Better yet cut one cake in half height wise and crumbling another up to make substrate layer even?!?!

Your much better off crumbling the whole thing (nickel sized works best IME) and leveling as a whole, as rekniting may make growth through the casing uneven. Casings are the shit alright, gotta love them! GL

So MF should just use one cake, crumble it up and spread over a wet layer of verm then case...cool!He's thinking of using the 60/40 Verm/Coco coir casing tek.In that tek,it says to nuke it!Couldn't he just PC it?How long would he have to PC to sterelize at 10 PSI?

My friend thanks you all for teh advice!
