shit i got my terraium setup on the rug waitin for my cakes to enter. is that a bad idea? hmmm... whats the best thing to clean the terrarium with b4 u put the cakes in?

HAHAHAHAHAHHA you fool. I live in super unsterile conditions and have never had a cake contam. What did you sterilize birdseed and then toss it around your room and terrarium? But I miserably fain in half my attempts at cultivation; I guess I have a brown thumb (or it could be because my thumb is always up my ass trying to tickle my pet tape worm).

I PC'd for 2 hours then let the jars cool for 6.
I had 100% colonization, everything looked good so far.
I had pinning and even some aborts, then I had 6 mushies growing and that's when everything turned green. I used BRN rice and verm and sterile everything (chemist here).

At least 4x a day air exchanges - everything was going just fine. Now I have done away with this and I will try again next year, or sometime after that.

Ditto... except I'm not a chemist, and I always save a cc. I would venture to say that if you attempted your endeavor again, after the 'bloom' is over, you may feel differently.

I could be blowing smoke up your ass. But I live in MN, and with all the rain and flooding, I have never seen more frickin mold... ever...

why is your window of opportunity so small that you cant try again? Also thanks Hawk for the comments on the rug and animals. Good info I wouldnt of given them much thought as possible contams. Especially the rug, those suckers are worlds upon themselves with microactivity.

terrariums on floor is bad idea, 95% of all contams w/n 1 foot of the floor [gravity, ya know ?]

see i thought that once the mycelium has taken over the cake it makes it very hard for contams to enter the network. thats why i didnt see it as a problem to be on the floor. im keeping my terrarium in a closet and i got all those damn soda bottle chambers hooked up. thats the only way i could see it working.
