Erythroxylum coca
    #3015328 - 08/17/04 09:32 PM (13 years, 5 days ago)

Does anybody grow the erythroxylum coca plant?

If so, is it very hard?  What conditions does it require?

Thanks in advance for any input!

I heard that it only produces the stuff that you would want out of it at high altituds, and you would have to grow quite a few .But im not an expert at this its just what i have read .

Yeh I heard that too.

I bet if you got a good stain and did a reasonable job of mimicking the plants natural conditions you should still get a result.

Unless the altitude really does affect it that much and theres no strains to get around this?

Rather hard to obtain, from what I've heard. Seeds are viable only for a short short while, so if you could find it, it's unlikely they would survive the shipping you'd need.

But don't be discouraged, try it. I mean, why not?

*edit* Some good info

http://cocagrowers.org/

her you go have fun i dont know squat about growing them thow iam very curios and woud eventually like some cuttings of a good strain
once this plant is more common in the garden
wow the shit you can learn when everyonre gets together with a common goal
such as the 300% increase in the amount of thc in cannabis in the last 20 years
6 % was good in the 60s and ok in the early 90s now amsterdam capped thc levels at 30% for safty reasons with tourists
and note only that but the collabiration has dropped prices of seed yuo can easly find the latest strains with 30% by dry weight for like 1.5 can / seed on c-bay

the natives in the mountains where its native eat leaves so ther body functions better on the low oxygen content of the air
this fact no dout reflects potency (air pressue, o2 levels, ??? any one else have some ideas

The altitude thing is a myth. Coca can be grown at sea level. I have an e. novagranatense which is closely related to e coca but its legal.

They can be grown yes, but the alkaloid content is very LOW.
