the apprentices grow and harvest has been successful, however, there was one guy that came up and when he was picked, apprentice found the cap to be smooshy and hollow feeling, and there was damage to the cap...does he have bugs?

That sounds strange but its not uncommon especially with really big caps and stems. Certain varieties also seem prone to hollow stems. If it has split at the top of the cap I'd say that's normal but if its smooshy I'm not sure what to say. If its soft it may be rotting and you wouldn't want to eat it.

"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand. I ask them and they answer me. When I return from the trip that I have taken with them, I tell what they have told me and what they have shown me."

Pick the mushroom then slice it in half. It kinda sounds like you got mushy flies. The adults will lay larvae eggs and the little maggots eat the mushroom from the inside out. I see it alot in hunting for boletes. From what you describe it sounds like it could be that. But you wont know until you cut it open or see some flys in your terrarium.
