Back from Coventry!
    #3013096 - 08/17/04 11:24 AM (19 years, 7 months ago)

well, after a 15 hour drive, sitting in a car for 30+ hours, being told that we had to turn around, saying fuck that and parking alongside the highway along with thousands of other phans, walking 20 some miles in the Vermont countryside, finally getting there - and then, of course, having a fucking amazing time... i'm finally back to Michigan. The scene was great (if a bit muddy!), the sets were all quite nice (i especially dug the second set on sunday)... really emotional scene going on (trey breaking down in tears numerous times on stage...). of course, i enjoyed myself (haha little joke there, eh? ) more than a few "party favours" throughout the show. i wish that they had played fluffhead and susy greenberg (two phish songs that i've never gotten to see :frown: ), but all in all - phish went out with style.

anybody else enjoy the show?

Wow, you never saw Susy G live? I've only been to about 22 shows or so and I've seen it at least 3 times (most recently at the Great Woods show last week).

Hope you had a blast. We couldn't make Coventry because a good friend was getting married and I didn't want to "be that guy" that misses a dear friends wedding for a "concert" no matter how important.

We did get to see the simulcast of Sunday's show, and as emotional as Trey was on stage... I have to say that it was Paige breaking down in Velvet Sea that brought tears to my eyes. Paige has always seen so genuine on stage and to have in get to the point where he couldn't sing that beautiful song and tears were coming down his face just really hit me. Of course you could see that much easier in the movie theatre with them up on the big screen than you could as part of the crowd at the show.

The movie theatre was on fire! Never seen people standing and dancing in a theater full of ballons and glowsticks.

Phish is gone, we're all sad, just think of the wonderful memories they left you with over the years.

oh yeah, when Paige kept pausing and breaking up during Velvet Sea... i've never seen so many tears in a crowd

My lady and I skipped two friend's weddings for Phish concert. One so we could go to Miami, the other so we could hit our last shows at Alpine Valley this summer. We missed Coventry because my lady was a bridesmad....no getting out of that! that made me sad, but at least we got to hit up the simulcast!

 at least the simulcast wasn't so muddy! i'm still debating whether to try to save my shoes or throw them out (i already lost one pair after roskilde festival in july, and if i throw these out, i only have sandals left!)

20 miles, thats a hike. I would have done that though if i got turned around, there is no way i am paying so much money to do that, re-arranging summer plans and getting turned around.

exactly how we felt... i'm not driving from michigan, hanging out in traffic for 30+ hours, and getting all wet in the rain to just turn around! plus i found that a precise mixture of Vermont beer (anybody had anything from Long Trail? good shit! they have this Blackbeary Ale that is really nice!), kind buds, and opium made for a brisk walking pace...

Yeah, I was reading on PT about all the people bitching about being turned away. Their main complaint was that they were listening to the Bunney and doing what they were told (staying in the right lane, not coming until Saturday, ect) but then they end up getting told to "go home."

When I read that they actually came home I was like.. "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!" Ride it out kids.. park and sleep it off then hike your little hippie butt into the party. Jesus, to drive up to VT, spend over $150 on tickets, take the time off work and then NOT hike 12 miles..... especially for the last Phish shows?... comon'

I guess Mike Gordon was on the radio saying " do not, PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE" I guess he was repeating this to the point where everyone I know who heard it thought he was giving everyone a tip.

i downloaded what he said and he sounded sad and was saying to turn around and stuff like that and that they were all really sorry and that they are brainstorming a way to make it up to them and that they will be refunded.
