Does anyone know anything about the use of these plants..
    #3008233 - 08/16/04 05:32 AM (19 years, 8 months ago)

ok under a argument last night about a new seed import law a person, a botanist, named a few plants that are very common around here. His argument was that it was wrong drug policy to worry about seeds like ipomoea, papaver and peganum when you could "get high" off so many plants, then he mentions:

    *Dicentra spectabilis (Bleeding Heart)
    *Corydalis
    *Chelidonium majus
    *Glaucium flavum (yellow hornpoppy)
    *Narcissus pseudonarcissus
    *Narcissus poeticus
    *Verbascum thapsus (mullein)

wich is all very common plants, and claimed that people have also used these to get toxicated. This is all new to me, I have heard that Narcissus can have mild toxicating effects but not that it have been used by people because it doesnt sound too tempting to try out. I was wondering if anyone have any knowledge about the usages of these?

*Dicentra spectabilis (Bleeding Heart) and *Corydalis contain isoquinoline pain killers that are very potent and toxic. Dont fuck with them.

Mullein is commonly used for lung problems like congestion. Also for asthma, colds, coughs, and sore throats. Its quite soothing to the lungs. However Ive never known anyone nor myself to get high off it and I sincerely doubt its active in any way.

There are quite a few corydalis species... I dont know which ur refering to.

I dont think bleedign heart has any uses.

Chelidonium Majus if used in excess can cause sleepiness, skin irritation, irritant coughing, difficulty breathing and similar effects. Its used internally for things like jaundice, hepatitis, gout, arthritis and rheumatism. As far As I know it also isnt active.

The others Ive not heard of.

Any references to Corydalis toxicity other than the bad batch of pills manufactured a few years ago? AFAIK, THP is not toxic.

I dont know man, but i tell you a new plant which i came across, well, new to me, "Foxglove", i didn`t really know about dosage or effects so i tried to dry some leaves out in the microwave, i opened the door and there was liquid on the glass plate, i thought, what the fuck and licked it, biggest mistake. The effects took till nightfall to come on and it was bad, it ws sort of like tripping with that weird feeling but no visuals or anything like that just a funny feeling in the mind, my heart was doing some weird shit, i didn`t think i was going to make it.

Organic, the only info I have about it is what i've heard about people overdosing but I wasn't aware of the bad batch of pills incident. I will look into that.

Dicentra has similiar alkaloids to corydalis. It is a beautiful native plant around here. The roots are the active parts.

Consuming digitalis was a very stupid mistake adam. It is a potent cardiac poison and you could have easily killed yourself. Be thankfull that you are alive and prevent this from happening again by properly researching the plants before you try them simply based on some internet report. It was used in a lot of witching preperations but the dosage is very fickle/sensative and it shouldn't be used by those who are not professional herbalists/doctors. Please be carefull, I would hate to loose a fellow ethnogardener due to misinformation and/or lack of research.

I dont think Corydalis is extremely dangerous if not used in excess. Ocational recreative use seems fine. Over indulgence may very well be hepa toxic though;

http://www.cdc.gov/epo/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00022295.htm

In either case I've heard very little of recreational value from this plant, most seem disappointed after trying it.
