Vermiculite for humidity?
    #3005655 - 08/14/04 09:40 PM (19 years, 8 months ago)

Hi all,

I'm ready to move my cakes out of their jars and into a fruiting chamber. I have read of using moist perlite to line the bottom of the chamber, and sitting the cake on top. Can one use vermiculite instead? Will this achieve the same effect (keeping humidity up)?

(Also, I've search on this, but didn't find anything. So, if it's been answered, feel free to point me towards the thread)

Thanks in advance,
dbljntd

No Verm and Pearlite are different and generally not interchangeable.

Verm holds water in, Pearlite holds air and expels water into the air.

Nope, used for two different things. Use perlite.

Thanks a bunch, DieCommie and Doug E Fresh.

Will go pick-up some perlite tomorrow.
