I have an air pump, and I've heard of runnign it w/an air stone. Are there any advantages to the airstone? I was just planning on running the airpump 24/7 with some filtered holes over the perlite for air x-change..with of course 2X fanning. Do you place the airstone in 1:20 H2O2/H2O? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Horseman

horseman you dont need the pump if youre fanning 2x a day. thats all they need per day anyways. setup the air pump with airstone (h2o/h2o2 conc. not really important make it strong as u like) and leave it :)

I just started using this setup (the air pump with the air stone) and I was wondering if this is sufficient for ALL my fanning needs. Should I still be manually fanning? I have also been using the airstone without any water or h2o2. It just hangs into the tank. I am using perlite humidification so I don't really need the water for humidity and I have found that a half pint jar of water in the tank takes up valuable real estate. Is this okay? What is everyone else's thoughts on this?

So to clarify...an air pump with an air stone connection in some h20, perlite humidification, and filtered holes for air x-change...this will suffice and no fanning is needed? Curious Horseman

I simply use a air pump which splices into 2 air stones in water in my terrarium. I also use perlite, but only with a small amount of water. This is sufficent, but make sure your EXIT hole is IN the CO2 layer (Not on the lid, below the middle of the terrarium). I don't have to fan (I have left it for a week before) but I do recommend fanning it when to check up on them, I allways have, theres no reason not to. I've never introduced contams this way. I've found with using 2 stones instead of one I almost double the over ambient humidity of just 1 stone. (21%) OA.
