A bowl is a nifty term for a pipe. The 'things you get on a bong to put the smoke, etc. in' is called a slide 'LONGBONG'! hehe... Making a bowl out of foil is just sitting back and creating a little foil pipe. They work rather well if you make them right, but it's not the best thing for your lungs... ;-)

And your nick is longbong... *sigh*

True. A whole pipe is called a bowl. But that thing you light up on a bong is called a bowl too, ya know. Don't get confused, its just two different things called bowls. You can call it a slide if its actually the type of bong where the bowl slides out to clear the chamber. But my bong has a carb hole. And you can make a bowl for your bong with just tin foil, just shape into a bowl, dude. But it hurts your lungs I think. That's why I smoke from glass, a bong, or a jay.

I guess the term is actually ment to describe the bowl inside the pipe. The hole you shuvitz' your weed into. Everyone calls the whole pipe a bowl though. I never head anyone call a pipe a pipe before..? lol ;-)

Well when I read the term it was used like this:

"Joe Bloggs had 2 medium sized bowls of substance X"

Now I don't see why anyone would say what size there pipe was if it made no difference to the effects of the substance. So in that case I think they were referring to the bowl bit on the end of the slider is it?

ANyway it was all stemming from a question of how to make that bit of the bowl bigger by putting in a cone shaped bit of foil into it to change it from being a medium sized bowl to an enourmous one for those heroic smoking occasions!

Why use foil? Why not just a larger bowl/pipe/stem? What exactly is medium sized. What sizes are there? Small, medium, large, and....?

Use foil if youre cheap or cant buy a bigger bowl. Bowl can be any size, they can be large small tall short prefab or homemade whatever gets the job done. In the case of salvia, a small bowl should still be ok if youre using extract.

i don't know where to get the bowls from as MF's one has a special attachment to go onto the bong that is why he/she was considering foil !
