really? well, sunbeam makes walgreen's custom branded pads, and the one i have has 4 heat settings and does turn off.
are you sure that the one with three settings doesn't turn off? they did have those too.. but i got the one with 4 settings for greater control over the heat.

yeah, HQ's runs all day w/out modification. it actually gets pretty warm even on the low setting, she turns it off & lets the radiant heat warm the box when it gets too warm. it's white, with a grey pattern of open ended triangles stacked inside. she runs 2 side-by-side under a sterlite, padded w. towels (it gets pretty cold in here sometimes). it says *moist/dry heating pad*, item 803429. 12.99 (19.99 value! written on the top of the box). weird... maybe it does turn off during the day & she didn't notice? but she's always seen it on and never seen it off... she won't say for certain now they don't turn off, since she's never watched them before for turning off. but is 99% sure they don't.

I have the 12"x15" Sunbeam with 3 settings, they don't turn off. I had it hooked up to a digital therm with min/max storage and the temp didn't move more than a couple degrees for days on end. These are good! Note: if you use one even on low you MUST buffer with a towel or something.

I'm not currently using a heating method for my personal project however I think that a reptile heating pad may work for you all....About $12.00 for a small one at most pet stores and for about $20 I think you can get a simple thermostat to maintain the desired temp and they are built for use 24/7

We used an electric blanket. After a while we found that leaving it on #6 it kept the heat at 85

ok.. got the pad as suggested. it is working *GREAT*. the "walgreens moist/dry heating pad" (12" x 15" size, 3 heat settings) does not turn off. it has been on a solid 3 1/2 hours now. incubation unit is at a nice 78*F. perfect...
thanks all..
