Hey all! I've been lurking around here for a little while now, reading & absorbing info, getting supplies together, and now the time is almost here! It has been a few years since I've eaten shrooms, mostly because of lack of availability. You have shown me the light!
Here's my first cake (thai pink buffalo). There are 3 cakes in the chamber and 3 more ready to go in after I dunk & roll them tomorrow. This is the first cake to birth, and this is 7 days from birthing. Damn, am I stoked! It has been far too long...and now I get to trip on something I grew myself! Thanks everybody!

Fucking YEAH! Just looking at them makes me feel all warm & fuzzy...standard PF tek, did up 12 cakes with a sporeprint I got from the fsre. 2 contaminated, the rest with widely varied growth rates. I think I did not stir the water well enough into the verm when making the cakes. I inoculated all jars on 7/11, and some look like they have stalled out. I flipped them two weeks ago with no improvement. 2 weeks after inoculation, 4 cakes showed no growth at all. I still had 2 ml of spores in the syringe (I prepared ~ 12 ml using a syringe I got with my printer ink refill kit and using the oven tek with the print), so I used it to re-inoculate the cakes. Well, it worked...1 of them contaminated and the other 3 are in the fridge soaking as I write this, while the last 4 are about 80% colonized. I'll give them more time though, because from what I've gathered here one of a growers most important tools is patience. I think another mistake I made was putting the syringe in the fridge right after I prepared it and not letting the spores re-hydrate well enough (I waited 12 hours before using). I feel this way because when I re-inoculated the 4 cakes, they took off better than any of the other cakes, and with only .5 ml per cake. Live & learn...If you are going to use a syringe shortly after preparing it, don't stick it in the fridge, and 24 hours is better than 12. As an aside, here's a pic of another grow project I just got started (nirvana afghani @ 30 days). Growing shrooms is definitely cheaper & easier, but I'm sick & tired of the schwag that I'm limited to. In fact, it was a thread on OG that led me here...life can be funny like that. 2004 should turn out to be a pretty interesting year for me, considering that a short 6 months ago I wasn't even thinking about growing anything. Peace, out.
