Hey!! I'm new to the board and have learned a lot from you guys!! Is there a pill you can get over the counter that makes you fall asleep? I want to be able to take a pill that could make a bad trip end by falling asleep. Is there anything to take if you're having a bad trip?

Vaka said: I've heard that some anti-histamines can actually bring trips down a notch. Try taking a Benedryl (diphenhydramine).
Diphenhydramine is the same as unisom so that may be why. It just generally makes you drowsy.

Benedryl takes like 45 min to an hour to kick in, so I don't think that would help. In any case I wouldn't try and escape a bad trip with sleep, that's just me though.

um.... if you havent tripped yet, and youre just thinking about this as a precaution to if you do have a bad trip on your first times, youre worrying about it too much. If you're a tripper and you have problems with bad trips, stop tripping for a while and go take yoga or something.

first off, dont worry about bad trips, worrying is what causes bad trips.
2nd, DO NOT DRINK A BOTTLE OF COUGH SYRUP
if you were to drink a bottle of robitussein DM or something, you would be taking a huge dose of DXM, and now you are tripping on both the shrooms and DXM. also, the shroom trip is near perfect while the DXM, not so much.

Don't take shrooms if you are expecting to or wanting to end the trip early.
You know what you're getting into - don't try to back out halfway through.
The mushroom has lessons to teach you, whether it makes you feel good or not. Ending the trip early is kind of shameful in my opinion.
That being said, there are plenty of sleeping pills, dude - don't ask on the shroomery.. google it

Just don't be afraid of a bad trip. Just take it slow and talk yourself out of the bad trip if you start to have one. Its all mind over matter.

I wouldn't be so quick to throw in the towel at the 1st sign of trouble. I see dealing with bad trips as a skill that can be fine tuned, but if you never put fourth the effort to develop such a valuable skill, then you will always be reliant on "training wheels"

Valliums are taken when your having a bad acid trip so that would be your best bet.

take small doses then work your way up cow-boy. get used to shrooms slowly. when i got shrooms in amsterdam the guy in the hut told me sugar brings a trip down quik. i noticed this to be true when i ate 3 handfulls of sweetarts while shrooming pretty hard. i came back in 5 minutes. that may be placebo effect, but it works. no need to introduce more drugs at the same time IMO.

Like others have said, don't worry about a bad trip. Wrong way to pack your mental luggage for an experience. Maybe you should take some time for yourself first in sobriety.
Any benzodiazepines will work well. Halidol and Xanax work the best for ending a trip as they kick in fast. 50-100mg of diphenhydramine is the only decent over-the-counter solution
I think MAG was kidding about the cough syrup thing since DXM would no doubt bring your trip way up, and non-DXM containing syrups (and some DXM-containing ones) would probably contain diphenhydramine, acetominophen, pseudoehedrine or any combination of the three. Very nasty things to take too much of.
Also, don't try to stop a trip with ambien. You'll pay with your sanity in a very negative way.

ambien is crazy shit. i used to take that cause i couldnt sleep, and i still wouldnt sleep, i would just lay away hallucinating. everything always looked like a pop up book, and it looked like tall buildings could be walked up to and pushed over with ease. kind of like waking dreams. one time i started sleep walking on ambien, and people thought i was drunk, but i was having some kind of ambien induced dream shit. of course i stopped taking that for sleep.
