Q? for Magash or other Martha type users...

A friend of mine is designing a closet (approx 400cf) lined with 7mil plastic sheeting, heavy plastic matted flooring(designed for drainage). He was curious if an Ultra sonic would suffice for this size enclosure, or if a cool mist was needed as well. The Ultra can easily bring up the RH (80-95%), but he was concerned about air flow, he has the same Ultra as pictured in the Martha post(and that mofo pumps out the H2o). I read all the info in the Martha post and can deduce the Cool Mist was for 'air exchange'? He feels the Ultra could run at least 10-15 min per hour. Any input on larger Martha's would be appreciated.

I would use both like the martha. be sure to mount the ultrasonic outlet just over the outlet for the cool mist that way the fog from the ultrasonic just doesn't fall but mixes with the air better and your rh levels will stay high for a longer period of time.

Yep, I'm a very firm believer in constant air exchange.

What are you going to use for the front? I did one myself and just flapped them over eachother, it works ok but a little sloppy... I was thinking velcro or something.

How about flexible magnetic strips like similar to how a fridge door seal works, hang a strip along each of the two edges and voila, magic (and better sealed). Velcro would become a pain in the buttocks I think, on top of being more expensive.

I mounted zippers on mine with a hot glue gun.... its easy. I used magnets with vinyl rolled on them at the bottom of the zipper (makes an upside down T shape). The magnet strips sucks ime, just space out some magnet disks.

Both those ideas are good. I'd think either magnets or zippers will be good. How about good old velcro?

Yeah velcro isnt expensive and wouldnt be that big of a pain cause you dont need a complete seal. Better that its not so air has somewhere to go. Just put like 6 velcro squares along the edge...I'm gonna do a rework of my closet this weekend I'm gonna try and add them on.

You would want to use the velcro with the big hooks and not the fabricky kind. The zippers I use are made for parkas and they are totally weatherproof. Also I dont know if I trust the velcro adhesive... And also if you use a glue gun get the high temp one they are much better and the glue doesnt peel off, just be generous with it.
Also that special weatherproof duct tape kicks a lot of ass. Yes its 6 bucks a roll but its worth every penny. Something else really good is aluminized tape. This stuff is great for taping up your alum foil or sealing things. I used it to seal my incubator from light.
