they are called hoberman globes

and i think you can get them at the discovery store online..

This is gonna sound pretty f'd up, but the coolest trip toy I've ever had(as far as being overly obsessed) was a jar of that Smucker's peanut butter/jelly ready mix...I played with it all night long, and I would become extremely agitated if someone tried to take it away. I eventually started to eat it and ate the whole jar and manically scraped the jar clean...dishwasher clean. The next day, we all went swimming and I buried the jar by the pool. The End.

Remember, trip toys don't necessarily have to be really glitzy and narly looking to be memorable...

My friend had a glowstick that he lit on fire. It exploded and shot out hells of fluid. Then he drenched me in it and I had to kick his ass.

With the glow sticks - if you have a smallish room and you get the glow stuff all over the walls and the floor and the cealing it looks tight as shit and you can make out the general shape of the room but nothing else. I did it with green ones once and put on some Orb, I felt like I was in the fucking jungle. It was cool for a while but eventualy I got freaked out and had to leave the room.
