At this point, the one thing I can think of is the fact that he will have an opposing party in Congress, thus limiting his power more than Bush. For a while I thought he would have a more sensible drug policy, but now I'm not so sure.

Beneficial to this nation.

By my definition, neither of them will be
I don't see much of a difference, both of them will harm this country even mre, but at least George Bush is pretty entertaining and unpredictable, and very focused on terrorism. Kerry doesn't seem to have the focus Bush has, so he'll start looking back more to traditional topics along with terrorism, like the war on drugs and such
That's my prediction of him at least. He would probably be more respectful to other nations though, perhaps we'd have better alliances than currently, that's the only plus I can think of for Kerry

bush is focused on making the appearance of being devoted to terrorism.. he's spending money in ways which will protect no one - you can't just hope they don't get through your weak points, and assume they won't go for your current weak points because they weren't the weak points in the past..

I would also like to say that I doubt Kerry would be any worse than Bush, and since Bush has already had his chance, I'm willing to give Kerry the benefit of the doubt. I figure at worst, he will just be like Bush all over again.

I agree 100%. It's not even Democrat versus Reupblican in my eyes. It's really just a chance for another person to look silly for 4 years.

I say elect bush
just so we can all stuff it in the faces of the florida voters..
who were too simple-minded or absent-minded to use a very standard and straightforward ballot who then complained because they messed up who continued complaining because they don't understand our electoral system and who led to a massive push for electronic voting machines which have a very high margin of error and leave no paper trail to even think about recounting, which are fairly insecure so far as it not being very difficult to change information (ie, votes) and erase your tracks and who still somehow think THEY got cheated
I think that episode really illustrated a very clear point in American politics that I often use as my political barometer
democrats think we should make sure everyone's equal at the expense of cheating most of the people out of something so the exceptionally stupid (by their own fault) can finish, too. these people can't understand a simple ballot, but let's keep trying till they all vote democrat!

If you consider that perhaps many of the problems of the Bush years have been circumstancial in nature such as terrorist attacks, an already growing recession under Clinton, and a terrible intelligence service, it seems apparent that Kerry probobly would not have fared much better than Bush, despite what he says. The thing that matters is how they handle such circumstances and from my point of view Bush has been much more decisive and steadfast than Senator Kerry. I know the anti-Iraq war people could never see it this way, but a hypothetical Kerry presidency (or Gore for that matter) over the last 4 years would probobly have been worse. You would have gotten little tax relief, tax increases during a recession to kick the economy in the nuts more, a weaker overhaul of intelligence agencies and an even weaker foreign policy which would encourage the US's enemies. Not to mention a complete failure with Iraq by relying on despondant allies, flimsy compromises and a duck-and-run exit strategy.

Since Bush has and never will admit to errors or mistakes in judgement, he will continue with his method of fighting terrorism. Should Kerry win, I think he will take that as a statement from the people that we will have no more of this preemptive strike policy crap. Even though he initially voted to invade Iraq, fortunately he's a 'flip-flopper', so now he'll discard that inane policy

flip flopping is not always a bad thing. It shows that you can change your mind, hopefully based on education about the idea at hand..

Last I heard Kerry decided that he supports the action in Iraq again, but that he "would have done things differently".
How?
Well I'll be damned, he never said a word about how, just that it would have been "different" and "better".
I'd rather he speak Chinese. At least Chinese fills you up for an hour -- those empty words just made me cranky with hunger.

it was my impression that our "enemies" were that, because of our harsh economic sanctions, and interference in other countries buisiness.
