No dice.. It has to be something the myc can feed off of  Try using honey or potato broth

You can transfer myc to substrate. YES
The problem with making a syringe out of colonized substrate is that it would be very hard to get the myc into the syringe.
That's why the karo/honey Tek is employed to allow tiny strands of myc to grow in the water making it easy to suck up into the syringe.

try that. if you don't have or can't find malt just sub it for any other sugar (i don't think regular grain sugar will work too well).

You did 4 jars 3 with honey and one with plain water and myc grew in the one with plain water, and faster then honey? That wouldnt be possible, no nutrition for the myc to eat in plain water, it shouldnt grow at all, I dont know what you had.

Somewhere in my post I have one where I did it with water. I use a glove box, added the myc right from a cake and put it in the syringe by hand. Added sterile water and shook like a motherfucker. 45 jars (pf style) shot up, all worked.

Yeah if you put the myc in. You had said you innoculated 4 jars, 3 honey and 1 water and for some reason (just reading another post about karo or something) I thought you were talking about using spores. Well I hadnt looked at the tek either, see what I get for opening my mouth? I've seen people use that tek with water..some people put in either some broken glass or a marble or small stone or something as well to break it up.

Why don't you try the karo tek with pancake syrup. I'm curious about it.

Maple syrup would likely work pretty decent, but it would have to be the expensive all-natural stuff. Aunt Jemima's etc will have preservatives in them which are antifungal.
