well, i had been thinking of saving up for a new powerful laptop that could handle producing some new forms of graphic art and music that my friends have been doing, which would be good for me to try and achieve this goal because i have issues with saving money (the moment i saved even half the money i'd probably impulsively fly off to NYC and blow it on an extravagent weekend), but lo and behold one of my wealthier friends out West surprises me by buying me the laptop. well, i'm kind of psyched about it, honestly, that i don't have to wait for the laptop, but then all the sudden i got struck with this crazy out of character notion that it would be good for me to save the money and do something righteous and charitable with it, like save up for one and donate it to the of the pittiful public schools here in central ohio. normally, i'd just take the laptop and fly away to NYC asap for some respite after hawking my old one, the midwest can be pretty tame afterall, but this idea seems a different and interesting way to test myself. definately not something i'd personally concoct up as a spiritual or growing device during the years i spent getting high on acid -- is something wrong with me, or could this be an opportunity to plant a seed towards something good? whaddaya think?
peace and blessings, CJ

just recollected on something of an anecdote
i remember when i was about 6 or 7yo and i was one of the first kinds on the block to get a nintendo , it was coming up on christmas and my mother, a psychotherapist at the time, had a patient who was too poor to really make much of a christmas for her kids, so my mom made me box up my atari and the some hundred games or so i had for it to give away to them. i totally resented it, even though the whole lot of it was stuffed away in my closet, i really enjoyed these games and had some nostalgia for them - at this age i already had some notion that it was unprofessional for her to do this and that she had some sort of ulterior self-serving delusional motive. even when my mother told me about how enthused her client said her kids would be, i felt snide about it, as if their care and appreciation for these games would be unparalleled to mine.

i definately have never really felt much of a civic duty, even in college when i helped out with a soup kitchen, it was more out of a morbid fascination with MRs, disabled people, shizos, ect. and their beliefs and behaviors than any real sense of compassion. my sense of good will has really only been extend towards people i've cared for.

well, that's me in a nutshell.
hope i don't bore you folks who bother to read my posts too silly.

Your mother was wrong

Instead of confiscating her childs toys she should have bought them one.

If it was too expensive then taking your game away is equally wrong. Make poor children happy - tunr your kid unhappy. Whats the point of that?

Sometimes (most times) parents are full of silly prejudeces

cleaner: no doubt, bro - the idea hit me as ludicrously humorous in a surprisingly motivating kind of way

----- you didn't happen to catch that penn & teller on PETA on showtime didja?
very amusing, often good points, but sometimes i fear a bit narrow sighted... kind of a self-limiting skepticism that focuses on the attacking the fundamentalism of the issues (which isn't bad) while not acknowledging possibilities of more conscious, esoteric approaches (which isn't surprising, seems impossible to televise anything conscious)
yadda yadda..... peace and blessings, CJ

But then again you were too little to understand that so confiscating seemed like a logical solution  :crazy2:

cleaner:  lol, i'm sure i brought that point up to her as a kid, i was pretty shrewd 7yo.  --- sha, right, willingly giving up your nintendo when your 7yo is something that only happens on made for tv movies on lifetime   you would have had to pry that controller out of my stiff dead hands.

cleaner:  appears i've caught somebody online   i think that was her intention, to unite us together as a family to do something charitable in the spirit of christmas...
i can't really come up with a possible solution.... anything that she would have suggested that would have taken away from nintendo time probably would have gotten the proverbial middle finger..... eh... guess you got to get 'em even younger than 7
