The gills on the last 2 pics are bright ink-blue.......

There is NO blueing. It must just be the photos. The gills on the last two are not ink blue, they're dark grey/brown.
Also, in case you didn't read the post, the first row of smaller 'shrooms with the more golden coloring are definatley cubes that I put there for reference
Like I said, I'm 85% that they're real cubes that didn't go blue because they where dehydrated by the sun (Is this possible? someone?), but if they break the number 1 rule (I.e. they must bruise blue) then I'm not taking the risk, and certainley not imposing it on my friends.
Hey forax, I though that sack-like volva (I don't know what that is, but the way you described it was like a ring around the stem of the shroom) was what made the dark ring on cubensis mushrooms. I thought they had veil and it falls away and goes blue/black with age causing that ring. I just assumed they where not fully aged on these ones so they are still white...Can someone confirm this, or set me straight.
Thanx, guys.

Hi AusCube, yes, toss the entire top row of mushrooms into the garbage.
-Cubes that big most definately have bluing on them already when you find them. Dried or not dried, cubes that big have bluing on them.
-The veils on them are not dark purple, they look sort of off white.
-Did you take spore prints of them? im sure they are not dark purple prints, those arent cubes.
-Even though the caps are tinted in darker and similar colors as a cube, those are not magic.
Keep shroomin,
And you had better double/triple check every cube on the bottom row just to be safe.. each one has to show bluing and a dark purple veil around the stem, just to be certain. Toss out anything you are not over 100% certain of its identity and bluing.
Take care,
GG

Please take a spore print when you pick some more of those--that could help a lot. If the spores are purple-brown (like regular cubensis) then you've probably got some kind of Stropharia. If they're white (unlikely given the dark gills) it's either Lepiota or Amanita. Dingy dull brown would put it in Agrocybe.
Is the base of the stem just bulbous, or does it have a cup of soft tissue surrounding it? That would be a "volva" and the only gilled genera that have it are Amanita and Volvariella.

you may have been able to ID those had you made a spore print before you chucked em..

Thanks for that information, forax.
I think you might be mistaking clumps of horse-shit for volvas due to exceptionally bad photo quality. I wish I still had them so I could tell you for sure...oh well.

Trust me, there is no volva on any of those mushrooms, Amanitas don't even grow near horse or cow shit usually, and definately not directly from dung! And to my knowledge, there are no poisonous mushrooms that grow from dung droppings.
The viel doesn't look white to me, I can't even see anything but the underside of the veil, which should be white. They probably aren't cubies, but the lack of bluing could be cuz they grew from cow dung, and were extremely weak and dry.

I'm sorry I am still not very educated in these matters but someone who is can tell us what this is worth, please. I know psilocybin & psilocin breakdown in heat, so could the intense sunlight and heat lead to so much of a breakdown that it wouldn't bruise? I have no clue just posing a question.

What was the smell/taste?
It?s allways a good idea to chew on a little piece of an unknown mushroom and spit it out thereafter to recognise the taste.
