hmmmm help?
    #2986121 - 08/10/04 03:32 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I have noticed one cake in particular has had a lot of growth coming off it growing into the geolite. I checked it out today and it had gotten longer. i removed a good portion of this stuff. Which was white. and i squeezed it slightly. It immediatly bruised orange. It also did not smell funny. it didnt smell like anything. is this a bad mold or is this good mycellium

well.
the thing is this. i justr emoved the cake. the ggrowth that was coming off some of it was actually furming what appeared to be a hairy spineball. kinda like a fuzzy sea urchin. So i removed it all. Thern i noticed that when i touched the spots on the cake that had this on it. they would turn orange. so i threw it out and a couple of the sourroundiung cakes. certainly weird. does anyone know what color puffball mold or cobwed mold turns when u squeeze it?

that sucks you tossed it... you should have taken pics of it, or at least put it in its own tub to see what came out of it...

Dude, that was the mycelium growing out to search for nutrience and water.  Don't do that again, it fucks up the cake badly.

Immagine if you  worked hard and grew out a bunch of arms and legs to get quick drinks and food and then just lost it after expending all the effort?  You would have to grow more.

You just fucked up.  Next time ask before you freak out and do some crazy shit.

Cobweb grows over twice as fast as mycelium and has little spore shits.  Puffball mold will grow taller and a half inch (I think), mycelium doesn't (usually, anything can happen though).

well, u see the thing is this...magnum. One of the growths that was going for nutrients an stuff was puffing out with hair in a speric formation. urchin like. This hair was white but was an off white. im not sure if it could possibly be because the water in the tub is slightly orange from the geolite dust or what. But it was a different white. and it grew approx 1/2 inch in a day. if this is normal. then shit hell yea. otherwise well im just short a couple cakes. but thank ufor your input. it does make me feel a bit relieved.

h2o2 is needed to prevent contams, if your cakes are going sour then you should think about adding some more h2o2.

yea the H2O2 doesnt hurt the myc for the most part. dont get CRAZY with it, but it will help fight back the risk of getting a contam. id say maybe add some more H2O2

I... Hurt my-shrooms today,
To see if they still feel.

heh like NiN, get it?

Yeah I love that H2O2 stuff it's the bomb. Generates oxygen too as a side effect as it protects, and water. Just don't swap out all your water for H2O2 it's not quite that magical, just a small proportion.

IMDAO (in my dumb ass opinion) peroxide(H2O2) will be like s Shotgun at a Shroom fest......there is a fatal dose........use it as prescribed! it will however inhibit contams in the right dose......

peace
