thanx.

ANY Meshuggah, they are heavy shit...7-string and 8-string guitars, the most insane fucking rhythem of all time...odd odd time signatures...the name Meshuggah means Insane in Yiddish I think too

I second the recommendation Meshuggah. They're music is almost psychedelic...it puts me in a trance anyway. Also check out The Dillinger Escape Plan. They did a cover of Aphex Twins - Come To Daddy. It's pretty intense.

yes meshuggah are very good if you're looking for "technical" metal. i heard that they're all originally drummers, which explains how they can play in such weird time signatures and change them so fast.

uhh.. i'd say in flames are pretty technical. yngwie malmsteen is good shit, he uses a lot of weird and "exotic" scales.

i've been listening to the band Sleep.. they're not very technical, it's more "stoner metal".. but good shit none the less.

Meshuggah, hands down. They just released a 21 minute EP actually, its fucking brutal. If you actually check them out, start with Chaosphere, out of all their cd's that shows what they are all about. Dillinger Escape Plan are pretty technical too, but I wouldn't say they are metal.

This isn't really metal, but its very technical: the band is named Slint and they put out a really good album called, "Spiderland" a while back. Download the song, "Nosferatu man." Good shit.

You should check out Sonata Artica, they are not really heavy, but they have speed and tech.
