    #2982491 - 08/09/04 06:08 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

Will some of you guys, name the brand of your pressure cooker, the style or actual "name" of it, if it has one, and how many jars it can fit in it, I'm going to buy a new one, due to the fact I can only fit 3 jars (Sideways) in my cooker, and looking for the best one ! thanks!

All-American!!! I have a 925 which is a 25 liquid quart PC. I can easily get 7 qt jars in it without having to turn anything sideways.

Man, I took a chance and got an antique one on ebay. They said that it was untested and about 50 years old. I thought to myself "What could go wrong with a metal to metal PC other than the gauge, which I could always buy another from AA?" I ended up getting it for 35.00 shipped! The cool thing is that everything fucking works too. I really lucked out on that one. I had a shitty little mirror PC that did the job before, but was time consuming. I can usually do everything in one whack with this one....

All American 921 holds 10 qt jars..
I just got this one off e-bay for 28.50 + 20 fer shipping

This isnt an All-American its a Co-Op model "A" that holds 10 QT jars
You might want to go a bit smaller because this one is a 21 qt capacity and my electric stove barely has enough BTU`s to get it to pumping good....I just fired this monster up last nite and its a good one for shure and i wont ever need another one
Presto makes really nice ones also but they have gaskets that have to be replaced

Yeah, I accidentally got the cheapest one, an 8qt Mirro which also turned out to be only 10psi (it said "6, 10, or 15 psi" all over the box which would lead one to think it was an adjustable one, but no only 10psi). It has a rocker and a twist-lock type of lid with a rubber gasket and a safety valve thing too. It fits like maybe 2 or 3 tall half pints (like, jelly jars, not the widemouth shorties as I haven't found those). Not big enough unless you have lots of time to waste (plus, 10psi = more cook time). I got boned.

sounds like the one i have. i got it about a year ago, salvaged from a friends car trunk. its pretty cheap, just a big hunk of steel with a twist on top and a rocker for 5, 10 and 15 psi. after i used it the first time it locked its self shut because the rubber expanded and either melted or just shrunk wrong and i had to use every last ounce of strength and a good 10 minutes of pulling, tugging and prying to open it again.

ill probably get a new one at some point, this only only holds 4 1/4 pint jars at a time and after my experiance of almost losing 4 jars inside its steel maw i might fork over for a new big all american, even though i dont ever plan on doing any big batches, it might be nice to move up to a pint or quart jar, which is way too tall for this thing.

I have cooked all kinds of things in mine...You can cook a chicken really quick ...bone it and make enough chicken salad stuff for a week or more...you can get all kinds of recipes online
I used mine to prepare jalepenos for canning and gave them away as x-mas presents....everybody liked them really well
I did some Invitro PF-Tek style corona beer bottle gifts and gave them to friends...everybody liked them really well also
