I have a pf tek running. I innoculated my twelve jars about a month and a half ago. a few of them started to collonize quickly, but most of them only and one or two spots of colonization instead of four. I birthed two of the cakes, even though they didn't have any pins on them in the jars. I am using an ultra poor man's terrarium with perlite(p.l.) and a bubbler in the bottom, there is about two inches of p.l.and about 3/4 of an in of water. I didn't sterilize it though. Is there any way to speed up the process, I have to go away to school on September 4, so I want to have a good yield before then.

you should add h202 to the water in the perlite so it doesn't get scummy.

you should only birth finished cakes or else you could get contams

whats the temp like in the incubation chamber? if your jars have been there a month and aren't colonizing well then you probably have a really low temp.

The cakes dont need to be pinning before you fruit them and really shouldnt. Once they are all white they are ready to go.
