How long do i steep mushrooms when i'm making tea?

Steep it till the water smells and has a slight tint. You can use the same shrooms and steep them over and over again.

Best Possible Mushroom Tea RecipeTM

Grind mushrooms to powder with an electric coffee mill,
bring half a cup of water per dose to boil,
remove from flame,
stir in the powder(optionally add fruit tea for better taste),
stir occasionally for 5 minutes,
strain the tea.
Add half a cup of cold water, or ice cubes to bring the temperature down so you are able to drink it,
drink.


This must be the question of the day, this is a tek Anno posted in Trip Tips. I have always boiled mine in a slow rolling boil for 10-15 minutes and then strained and squeezed out all remaining water but these sounds even better and if Anno says its the best I believe him.

What? Are you saying you can reuse the mushrooms to trip again? I've seen people eat the left overs and have nothing else and nothing happened to them at all...

I steep in 1/2 cup of hot water for at least 10 minutes, strain out the shrooms, then steep again for another 5 - 10 mins in another 1/2 cup of hot water. I then mix the two 1/2 cups together, add flavor (Kool-Aid, Tea, mint, etc.), let cool, then drink.

I think he means resteeping, not reusing?

I can't imagine how bad mushroom tea would taste, certainly not game to find out either.

make sure not to use too hot of water, i ruined a half oz between 4 people cause the hot water killed the active chemical in the shrooms.

adding a teabag and lemon juice to the mushroom water gets rid of any taste...it doesn't taste bad at all that way.

That is hard to believe, I've actually boiled mine for 15 minutes and didn't notice any difference in dosage between eating dry caps/stems.
