Aquarium Temperature
    #2978726 - 08/08/04 05:58 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Any ideas how I can keep the temperature down to about 70F in my aquarium? I am doing alright on the humidity, but when the humidity is good, the temp stays at about 80. I am given to understand that I need to keep it down to around seventy. Any suggestions?

Shoney

I dont think 80 is way outta line........but for a cheap fix.......you could try the redneck AC device........A frozen milk jug filled with h20 or similar container........you can add a fan for the delux model.......

peace

74-77 is optimum and 80 will work just fine  If possible incubate slighty higher 84-86 and cold shock the cakes/casings overnight in the fridge may help initiate more pins when fruited at a slightly higher temp  GL

Does this mean that when I am ready to birththe cakes, that I just stick em in the fridge overnight? Or is there any soaking etc. involved. I am using the PF Tek method, and have followed it like a military manual on defusing a bomb...coupled with asking questions on the board for clarity on some matters. The latter is stated just so you know what I am working with. Thanks.

Shoney

Dunking will help and lowering the temp also is a trigger for the mushroom to fruit so fridge dunking IMO is a good thing.

for your temp problem got to radio shack and by a 12 vot dc microfan by the 12 volt dc adapter, splice the fan and adapter together and go to wal-mart and by a outket timer set it to however many times to stabilize temp..*make sure the fan is directed blowing out and youll need a intake( bubble wand ataached to fish tank air pump, under an inch of water with perlite on top about 2 inches thick) that is automation for you man, no more fanning your terrarium* make sure you dont suck out all your humidity with the microfan, just enough to get co out , i say 3 times a day every 5 hours or so..

Mostly that's a poorman's pod setup, read the post which has been hanging out on page 1 of this forum, posted by Magash. They work great, cheap to set up, and easy to take care of. You may have to add an exhaust fan to keep your temps down though.
