I don't usually sterlize my coir...I put just enough water so that it expands and almost feels dry, leave it in a bag and then add verm and water + a lil h202 when I'm gonna case...I've had almost perfect success with this(the only time I had a problem is when I left verm and coir at fc in a bag and then cased it).....but I recently had to take a break from growing and the coir has been sitting for months now with that lil bit of water so I want to sterilize it before I use it....not sure yet if I should use the micorwave or stove..which would you pros prefer? and how long should I I nuke it or bake it(and at what temp if bakin)?

thx in advance

Nuke for 5-10 minutes and you should be good to go. It always worked for my friend, Don Quixote.

Don't forget to add a little water after nuking, this will replenish lost water and cool the coir.

Good luck.

I'm gonna add a lil before as well since its already pretty dry....not a lot just a lil bit since its gonna lose during the nukin...I'll prolly nuke a day before I'm ready to case

I usually PC it since I do some grains at the same time anyway. I did it in the oven for about 30 minutes at 350 last time when I needed alot. Worked fine. Most use microwave though. I think I read 5 minutes then add more water and stir then 5 more minutes and add a little more water if it needs, didnt pay much attention though. Good luck.
