Its been about 2 days since i put my BRF cakes in there terrarium and now they have many patches of white which are coming off the cakes like...Troll doll hair. Very thick not wispy anjd also white. Does the mycellium do this?

I have read about spiderweb mold which is white and wispy, but since yours is "not wispy" then my guess is it is likely the mycelium sending out hyphae to get ready for pinset. I assume you are just fruiting the naked cake, with no casing? This thick fuzz would normally be growing around through the casing layer and is what forms the beginnings of a 'pin'. So you're probably alright, as long as you can see a few pins developing within a few more days. Some strains do this more than others, I have some Oaxacan ones that are already reaching out with rootlike hyphae in my incubator, growing up through the top layer or verm and everything, but right next to those I have some Blue Meanies (the misnamed P. Cubensis strain, not the 'real' C. Azurensis) which have very normal looking even mycelia and none of the odd rootlike growths. Double-check your humidity levels you might be a little dry as well which will cause it to try and reach out to find more water (in this case, in the air) to begin fruiting. Did you dunk your cake? - if not perhaps even more reason to make sure you're very humid in your fruiting chamber.

I also must mention I am basically a beginner besides having read a whole heck of a lot of info here and elsewhere, so I could be wrong or mistaken so wait for a couple other opinions first.

If it turns green, throw it out.

I found a picture from baltazar's post titled "Can you take a look at theese jars", showing what his naked cake looks like - and it looks real good.

Does yours look something like that? It's OK if you don't have the little bumps yet (hyphal knots, which is where pins start off from), but it should be nice and thick and creamy like the picture.

And green or blue generally signifies molds, they can grow at many different rates so it's hard to say how long. Careful with finding bluish spots though as the cake might turn blue on its own wherever it gets bruised or damaged (natural occurrance with P. Cubensis and most relatives) - if you see blue and it doesn't change size for days then it's probably just a bruise. Green is always bad though. Also it should smell less 'mushroomy' and more 'funky' if it has an infection, inside your fruiting chamber.

If its comming in that quick its probably cobweb mold. Myc takes about 2 or 3 days to start showing then about 10 to fully colonize a grain jar. I think its about the same fore BRF 1/2 pints, havnt done them so not sure though..but if after 2 days there were large patches, I dunno...

Just wait and see but a pic would give you an answer for sure.

By the way, your thread title made me think of the yello submarine, eat some mushies and watch it...

Wont you p-p-p-lease help

You're eloquent phrase "Troll Doll Hair" pretty much sums it up for me ...
Cobweb mold !
Mycelium in my exp does not look like hair in anyway , with exception of rhizo strands (more plant root like IMHO) .
