 How much of this San Pedro should I take for my 1st time?

I like this message board. I have plenty to contribute on mushrooms  but I'm looking forward to my first mescal trip pretty soon.
So each log is 16" long and weighs about 4 pounds. If I cut a log in half that makes it 8" long and around 2 pounds. Still too much right? So what size piece should I cut for a 175 lb. person looking for a moderate trip?
a 4" piece would weigh approx. 1.00 lbs
a 5" piece would weigh approx. 1.25 lbs
a 6" piece would weigh approx. 1.50 lbs
a 7" piece would weigh approx. 1.75 lbs
I have friends ranging from 150-250 lbs, so any help on reccomended doses would be appreciated. I believe all of them have shroom experience. Maybe something like 4" for 150 lbs, 5" for 175 lbs, 6" for 200 lbs, 7" for 225+ lbs? Thanks in advance...

I'd say use a whole foot or a little more for a dose.

You do realize that a whole foot would weigh about 3 pounds right?

generally a foot is for 3ish inches thick. it says 7 inches thick... i would say 6" would be good imo. my 2 cents.
you gonna root some? those suckers would probably throw out some killer pups!

Thanks, 6" sounds about right to me too. Yeah I'm gonna root a few. What size piece should I root? Since those are 16" logs, should I cut off two 6" pieces (doses) and root the remaining 4" piece or cut off one 6" piece and root the remaining 10" log?
Also, I'm going to pick up these cuttings in a couple days. I MIGHT use them this weekend but if not I'm going to wait about 3 more weeks. If that's the case, do I just keep the cuttings in a shaded area or what? Thanks.

I never use less than a foot and they all have averaged 3in thick in about the center. I freeze what I', not gonna use or plant- and you certainly don't need a full 4in to root- never skimp on a SP dose.

Yes I realize what that says but some 1 footers only weigh a pound and some weigh 3 pounds. I'm no expert but that's quite a big difference.

yes a normal dose is a foot, but a foot that is one inch and a foot that is 7 inches is very different. i think shadow has the right idea on his doses as his cuttings are quite thick.
doesnt really matter a whole lot about the length, within reason. however i would personally plant a whole one. if you use the cut 4" it has to calous again and would take more energy, and probably take a little longer to kick in and root/pup. 3 weeks would be fine sitting around, but i wouldnt stack them in case some moisture adds up and possibly cause rotting (has happened to me with other columnars).

thanks kadakuda  altho I'm not gettin em now. The seller was kinda paranoid (he accused me of not being the actual buyer at one point) so I told him I didn't want to do business with him. They were cheap but I didn't need that much anyway. hehe. Planning on doing it last weekened of August right before my b-day. Maybe even go to Vegas for it. Or the desert. Or BOTH!

Didn't he list the dimensions of the 1 foot cactus he used? I thought he did. If he did it shouldn't be too hard to do some math to figure out an equivalent with a different dimension cactus. If he didn't then I'm out of ideas as i don't ever make cactus slurry to dose, i like to play with chemicals and stuff so i end up with a mass that i weigh out for dosages.

ya it was 2.5-3ish inches, which is why i say half the length as its twice teh thickness.
wise idea, some people are nothing but problems. too bad it didnt pan out those were nice big suckers.
