I went hunting for a few hours in these areas and i only found this one thing that looks similar to oyster mushrooms. What's the secret to searching? I looked on all the cow patties, but nothing.

There's no secret, just keep looking. Oh and, those shrooms look like a Laetiporus species.

What do you qualify as the midsouth- give a state for gods sake. If you are is one of the more extreme southern states in the middle of the USA like LA, you need to perk up and look for some cubes.
