Here is a portion of my cactus garden. You can see that they are all pupping. The pups get cut off after a while, rooted and repotted. This keeps the original plants from getting too big and outgrowing the 3 gall pots they are in. Some I put in the ground but I like the convenience of being able to move them.

Awesome. I've been wanting to get my hands on one. I don't think I really have anything to trade though.  :frown:

Nice! How long does it take to see new pups after the chop? Nicechrisman, look on ebay.

I've seen new pups forming as soon as 1-2 weeks after chopping a cactus. If the parent plant has a good root system going, a single stump can have 3 or more pups coming off of it which can each grow 30cm or so in a single season - its phenomenal! The key is frequent watering and a decent amount of fertilizer (not too much though!)

zee, you are correct. 1 or 2 weeks after chopping is when you usually see new pups. A trick is to give it a high N fert when you want more pups. You do need to be careful on the ferts because too much is no good at all. I got 4 pups from one not too big stump. The more pups you have usually the smaller each one is. Actually, this photo is just part of my san pedro collection. I will post a photo of some seedlings if I think of it today. Later I might show some of my other cactus species. I have about 2 dozen hoodias. I already showed a pic of one of them.

nicechrisman, ebay will work and there are lots of places to order them from. If I was going to sell a cutting for cash I'd probably ask about $15 plus shipping. That's why it's better to swap. I already have a lot of things so it's not easy to come up with a trade. Starting from seed is a cheap way to do it. I swap seed all the time. Read Una's thread where a pedro was grafted on a pereskiopsis and got huge with lots of pups in a few months.

Here are some san pedro seedlings in a pot. There are about a dozen in this one.
