Bush in the classroom
    #2967550 - 08/05/04 12:58 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

Remember how Bush sat in that classroom reading to children while the terrorists struck on the morning of September 11th? Well, he was being broadcast live on Florida TV, which means that anyone could've turned on the TV and saw where he was. Didn't anyone consider the fact that by staying there, he was making that classroom a potential target? Unless of course he knew where the planes would strike.

Go back to sleep. We don't need you stirring up shit. Homeland security's going to come to your home, strap you naked in a chair in front of Fox news for seven days. You'll come around...

There are two explanations, Bush is a complete idiot, a terrible commander in chief who cannot be relied upon in a crisis situation, or he knew. I vote for the first explanation.

Ya, I could go either way with it. I'm perfectly willing to accept the incompetence defense, except for the fact that some of his other advisors were there, so wouldn't they be able to figure this shit out?

I tend to agree with that. I don't believe for one second that he knew in advance.

What was it, 7 minutes, he continued to read after being told before he left? What do think he could have done differently in those 7 minutes that would have changed the outcome? Had he immediately excused himself, don't you believe this could have caused even more of a panic?

So you?re one of the people who worry that the children might have become upset and that that should have been Bush?s main concern, huh? Yeah, fuck the 3,000 people that died that day. The kids could have become upset.

Instead of sitting in that room for 7 more minutes he could have gotten the hell out of there because he was a sitting duck and supposedly didn?t know if the school was a target or not. He also could have checked to see if he needed to authorize shooting down one of the planes since he is one of the only 2(?) people who are authorized to do so.

What exactly was he told when they came to him while he was reading? I understood that it was only that a plane had crashed into the WTC. Anyone know for sure exactly, or pretty close, what he told?

Bush had plenty of time to react. The first plane he probably thought was some sort of freak accident. The second plane sealed the deal. At that point he should have gotten up, ran to the nearest phone booth, got into his skin tight blue suit and red cape and flown to rescue the remaining plane. If you liked him strutting around the flight deck in his flight suit, just imagine how studly he would have been with that cape on.

Maybe he even could have flown around the earth so fast that he could turn back time. Then he could have rewritten the book "My Pet Goat" to give him a warning when the time came. He also could have put a nifty bet on UConn in the Big Dance.

Anyway you look at it, Bush dropped the ball. He could have done so much in those 7 minutes.

So appearences are more important than trying to determine the extent of what was going on? More important than talking to his generals? More important than authorizing the guided missiles (the hijacked airliners) to be shot down?

Sorry, the man is incompetent if his priorities revolved around how he would appear on television talking to kids during a national emergency.

I'm less interested in what Bush himself was doing at the time of the attacks than I am interested in what NORAD was doing in the hour previous to the attacks. For years before 9-11, NORAD was a subject of great interest to me, and I did a lot of research on their procedures and capabilities. In light of that knowledge, the success of the 9-11 attacks is very fishy to me.
