Why does the idea of Oneness scare people?
    #2964984 - 08/04/04 05:21 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I was just thinking about why so many people reject the idea of being interconnected with all of existance. To me it's empowering.

I think some people read others use the word oneness and think we have some goal of turning into a gooey love glob or something. maybe it is for some but it's not how I see it.

I frimly beleive that with moving into the understanding of our interconnectedness that we are also moving in our soverignity within it and thats HUGE to me.

This is an exciting time where we stop suckling gods boob and grow up. This is the time where we get off our co-dependancy of others we think are smarter or stronger and in reverse weening off those who are sucking off of us for those things.

Oneness implies that any attribute one has "spiritually speaking, WE ALL DO! It's all within us. It wasn't given out unevenly as in the have and have nots and some with more and some with less. Thats imbalanced thinking and being which isn't healthy.

Understanding Oneness in the soveriegnity light implies total spiritual equality and BALANCE.

I wanted to share these views for those who shriek at the idea of becoming a gooey love glob with everything. Thats not what understanding oneness is about-not to me anyway.

I just caught a last reply of Zahids in his "Is God Sad?" post.

He summed this aspect of it up well in it and I will sum it up by saying whatever the essense of source consiousness is, consider that it was bored and lonely in its solidairity and decided to blow itself into a infinite bits so it could play with itself and know itself through it's mirrored reflections. I liked how one put it, "we are here because God wanted a lover" Thats sweet! Sounds a little incentuous too but you get the idea. LOL

Solidarity Oneness suggest simply that we are INDIVIDUATIONS of the one. Works just a hologram does. That mean that everything the one is made of , so are the indivuations. It also means that coming from the same source material, we are inherantly linked. When a facet of the holgogram changes, the whole holgram does as well whcih is why what we do to others we do to ourselves.

There's no escaping it other then through denial.

I think some people are just too lazy to care. All their worried about is the next reality tv show and apple pies.

Hmm... pie. I'd say Oneness works two ways. We're part of the cosmos and God, and on the other hand God is just a part of our psychology, of the cosmos that rests within each of our individual heads.

Funny!

The ones who could care less are another ineteresting sort. Some people don't mind shooting themselves in the foot. maybe they hold many answers.

It just dawned on me that maybe it isn't the gooey love glob ideaolgy that scares people but it's the idea of being interconnected to the likes of Hitler and Gayce and the scum of the universe that scares them.

Definetely a challenge in mastering oneness acceptance there, but empowering if ya can because it removes the fear. Once something becomes a part of you, it no longer holds a threat to you.

Brilliantly done Alan! You understand the double sided mirror!

Oneness is in between the two.

They are the ones this is about understanding. They are afraid of oneness and the movement towards it which is why they try to tear it a part. I am wondering what is so scary about the idea to them.

Sure, fear feeds on negativety so the two are tied together.

Then the next question is "why do people feed on negativity?" Do they even know that's what they are doing?

I've shared my ideas about the oneness of the universe with some of my friends, and the ones who seem to have the biggest problem with it are the most religious ones. They're Catholic, and since the idea of being one with God goes directly against what they've been taught to believe, it is therefore automatically wrong.

Thats interesting! yes, the catholic church does all it can to keep us separate from God. I know from growing up in it. Good observation. Thanks for sharing it silversoul7

because free will implies Duality, and most people are pretty attached to their free will.

I never considered that free will implied duality. Its interesting to know that some do. You're saying that some people think free will is about choosing good or bad. Interesting.

To me free will choices can made in oneness mentality. i prefer to be aligned with oneness thinking when I make choices.

Sounds to me like what has people scared of oneness in their separatest thinking is duality stuff. Right there that would tell them that oneness is the way beyond duality fears.

Because religions teach duality/ separation, religious people would then be the most afraid of oneness not realising that oneness would ease the fear.

Oneness would mean being interconnected with the bad side of duality and they won't stand for that- they push it as far away as they can. No wonder they are so damn scared. They created the army agaisnt them to be afraid of.

This all gives me new directions to think on and understand this world better with.

free will means being able to go against the whole, as an individual. It may be impossible to reconcile free will with unity.

I see where you are coming from.

The way I see it, if you are whole as an individual, then there is NOTHING left apart from you to go against.
