to my mind, depression is the product of modern city life can't see any link between depression and drug use,use not abuse
i feel depressed when i don't smoke grass daily that is just because i'm half-human without psychedelics... and i live in a modern city too,i would be depressed if i didn't meet with shamanic plants, and some other synthisized drugs..

Are you trying to say that people were depressed, and turned to illicit drugs to cure it? Drugs as an escape type thing?
That's the way I interperet it.
No not as an escape. Most people who say people use drugs as an escape, are people who never used drugs they're selfs in most cases.
Thats not the way i meant it.

Now this is a very interesting point of view. I know people who would really (in my point of view, and I have a good view on people) benefit from a psychedelic experience. But you can only try and explain, people who never had the urge to seek it out will not be easily turned to it. And I'm talking about people who trust me and are dear to me, they just don't dare. And I want to help them out of they're depressed way of thinking.

i also agree... i think i was depressed all my life without knowing what's wrong with me and WHY I'm not at all content with my life but then i finished my army service and had a few months of heavy use of sweet MaryJane... it did NOT help my general depression but i'm sure it put my life into prespective and helped me realize my situation... modern life is hard... we have too many options too many fears and not enough means to accomplish ALL the things we want (while most of what we want is just bullshit really) we grew up with standards that are actually pretty far from reality... drugs may help alot with this situation but it totally depends on the person that's using them... i know that for most of the people i know drugs only helped! (I'm talking about weed shroomes and maybe even LSD... alcohol never does anything good) but it depends on how we define drug use... because over here it's nothing like in the US... there's much less miss use of drugs!

I find, and this includes myself, that when one is depressed or feeling down, we look outward, and think externaly when it comes to what is depressing us. Like: Its the people around me, it's the shitty weather, it's the food I eat. All of that stuff is controlable, and you can change all of this if you really wanted to. But when it comes right down to it, one has to change themselves. You might not even be able to run out of external excuses, and just have to learn how to cope better instead of thinking that they will disapear.
