Give up meat completely? Fuck no! I'd raise a few chickens every now and then. I'd probably just make very good friends with a farmer so he could hook it up with the beef and chicken.

I'd probably eat more, just because I know whats fed, and it would be killed in a sanitary fasion, not gross like in some sort of slaughterhouse.

contrary to your popular belief, most cattle is fed with quality and slaughterhouses along with butcher shops are quite sanitary...

I'm a vegetarian - so it wouldn't make a difference!
I reckon there'd be a lot less meat eaters about if they had to slaughter and prepare the animals themselves, though.

I would eat more! I was raised on a farm and loved to clean and prep animals.
I also hunt and love it!
By the way 284_27, feral cat is edible and tastes like rabbit
Now before anyone says anything, It is a delicacy in China.

I would eat less because it would be easier for me to grow vegies than raise animules. I would be eating alot of fish and chicken. I think chickens would be easier to raise than cattle.

Where's the option to eat more meat? Because for me, it's far more ethical to raise and slaughter one's own meat than to buy factory farmed flesh that you have no connection to. I have the strong need to raise, slaugter and eat my own meat, or skin and eat roadkill, or learn to hunt small game (without guns).
I'm not a vegitarian or a vegan anymore, so I occasionally eat meat right now, but I'm mainly a freegan. I have come to the conclusion that living off the ludicrous amount of waste and excess there are in this society is a whole lot more ethical than spending tons of money on overprocessed tofu products shipped here from Asia. Dumpster diving and table scoring forever! Basically, I eat meat when I find it (if it's still good.) Once I learn how to indentify good roadkill and skin it (and brain tan the skin) I'll be eating that too.

Would you eat meat if you didn't have to.
If there were an adequate substitute with superior nourishment qualities available at low cost, would you still eat meat.

When I had cows I ate more meat because it was less expensive, home raised and came by the freezer full.

I've gutted a fish before and then ate it. I could easily see doing the same to a cow, pig, or chicken.

Well, at least you have the guts (no pun intended) to prepare your own. A lot of meat eaters I know have said they wouldn't be able to do it if they had to hunt the animal and prepare it themselves.

i've raised livestock before and i plan to again when i have the space. i prefer hunting, as it seems far more fair and agrees more with my spiritual beliefs about predation. i feel for the animals, but i'm still willing to do it.
