I'm not really into the video-games scene....but I've heard a lot of hype about this game, so I wanted to see what it was all about. I mean I've heard of people buying entirely new systems to be able to play this games. So I found some screenshots. Fucking Wow! Even not digging sitting around playing video games very much I was blow away by the detail in this game. I would almost pay the 55 bucks just to be able to look around in a game like this. These people obviously put tons of work into this project, and it really wouldn't be right for everyone to download it illegally, though I hardley doubt that they won't make a profit. Also I think a lot of the reason people may be downloading this game more than others (besides the fact that it's a highly desireable game) is the fact that it's got very high end system requirements, so the people that have the capabilities to run the game also have the capabilities to download it fairly quickly, not necissarily in every case, but generally if you're into computers enough to have that poweful of a system, you're not running a dial-up connection. Though on second thought the majority of people that download games have the same capabilities....so I'm going to go with it just being a highly desirable game.

I'm pirating it to see how it runs on my computer, if it runs good and the multiplayer kicks ass, I'm gunna buy it.

piracy is a direct result of 29853795854 game manufacturers coming out with 297539734346483 shitty games that people are sick of paying for and not being able to return because it sucks.

If a game is truly good ill buy it. Most computer games ill play for a few days then get bored. Which will prolly happen with doom3 since the multiplayer sucks. I grabbed mine off newsgroups. 350kb/s w00t. I feel sorry for people trying to get it off suprnova now.
Im gonna give it a go again tonight after i get stoned. See if i like it.

The single player is good, the engine is great. ID has always been known for bad ass new cutting edge engines.
The storyline is so so I'm finding. A bit repetative.
Since I have an illegal copy I cant play online, but I played around with the multiplayer by myself just to see the levels. Kinda dissapointed there is only 5 levels and the weapons are only so so.

45,000 times! fucking-a, give ID the well earned money they deserve. i have no vested interest in the game or the company but when i read that it made me sick. i don't think people realize how much fucking work and $$$ goes into making a game like this. these are major productions on par with the budget of a small movie.
i guess the new anti-pirating software they used didn't do shit....
and to everybody that says "i just wanna try it out before i buy it" fuck you, wait for the demo (which they are working on as we speak). the game isn't going to spontaneously combust or disappear from existence before they release the demo so just chill.....
god damn.....

if you went to ID and said "hey, we have a check here for over 3 million dollars, do you guys want it?" im sure they would say YES. their sales may be 'fine' but they could be a lot better and this still makes me sad because...
i hope one day to be able to make a living off my creativity. that's all the guys at ID are trying to do.....

if the game is good enough, they will make millions on sales REGARDLESS of piracy.
Once I get a chance to check out the multiplayer and see how it really is, and if I'll enjoy it, I'll buy it or not.
I dont buy FPS games for single player.

Alright, first I'd like to say that I went out today and bought Doom 3.
UNBELIEVABLE! I noticed a few people were not impressed? Well, try this. Play it a.) at night b.) no light in the room whatsoever c.) with either good speakers in surround sound, or headphones d.) and make sure you read up on .cfg tweaks, get some better framerates. This game was ALREADY scaring the hell out of me, and now at 800x600 at High Quality, I'm developing an ulcer. Terrifying game.
And now to piracy - There is just one point I would like to make. Let's say that you wanted to play Doom 3. You decide "Well, I'm never going to buy it, so I'll just download it". You download it, and then you get the enjoyment that everyone else payed for, for free. The problem here is that there is now no chance you will ever give them money. You won't buy it in the future when it's cheaper. You won't decide later to buy it. You already have it. You don't even have to consider giving them money. Just because you might now buy it now doesn't mean you won't buy it later.
It's worth 54.99. This game is scarier than any movie or book I've ever seen/read. EXCEPT for Jaws, and probably that new one, but I don't want to see that.
Amazing game. I can't tell if it would be scarier, or less scary, stoned.

you need to buy about 20 more shitty rip off crap quality pieces of software before you sit high and mighty on your richie rich software purcashing stool.
I can already tell I wont be playing doom 3 longer then a week by the game style. Unless its multiplayer kicks ass, its not worth *15* bucks let alone *60*. Since software is NOT RETURNABLE in 99.9999999999% of stores, I'm not RISKING 60 bucks for a game that MIGHT SUCK.
I buy games that I play and hold my interest. I own a copy of RTCW, quake 3, half life, and a few others here and there. I have about 50 burned games that I played maybe 4 times. I'm GLAD I didnt WASTE my money on that shitty product.
Please go out and buy a few hundred worth of non retundable items, then throw them away and tell me how you feel.

no, i have a mac. generally shitty software does not make it to this OS because its not worthwhile porting shit games that don't sell on PC. as for the rest, mainly FPS that i play, i wait for the demo or buy them right away, like Quake 3, RTCW, Deus Ex, Q3TA, Halo, Max Payne and i could go on but its not worth my time....
