Paper substrate and Oysters

On this page there is a recipe for supplementing paper to gain a substrate for oysters.
Quote:
Spawn running, pin head and fruit body formation, and mushroom yield of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) on waste paper supplemented with peat, chicken manure and husk rice (90+10; 80+20 w:w) were studied. The fastest spawn running (mycelia development) (15.8 days), pin head formation (21.4 days) and fruit body formation (25.6 days), and the highest yield (350.2 gr) were realized with the substrate composed of 20% rice husk in weight. In general, increasing the ratio of rice husk within the substrate accelerated spawn running, pin head and fruit body formation, and resulted in increased mushroom yields, while more peat and chicken manure had a negative effect on growing.
Does anybody know what the ratio specifications means? I do not understand how much paper, peat, chicken manure and rice husk is used in the end effect.

Your end result will always be 100%. So if it says a 50/50 ratio of waste paper and lets say peat, that would mean you would mix equal parts of each. So weather your making 1 pound or 100 pounds of substrate, it will always be half and half. If your making 100 lbs of substrate with a 75/25 ratio, you mix 75 lbs of one, and 25 lbs of the other.
Im not sure if i made any sence, hope you understand

Yeah, I understand what you mean, but how can I apply that to the this ratio specification:
> Spawn running, pin head and fruit body formation, and mushroom yield of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) on waste paper supplemented with peat, chicken manure and husk rice (90+10; 80+20 w:w) were studied. > highest yield (350.2 gr) were realized with the substrate composed of 20% rice husk in weight.
Does that mean that I have to use 90% paper and 10% peat? But what amount of chicken manure and husk rice I would have to add then ? I just cannot see any sense in the above formula ...

They ran a series of tests, of 90:10 waste paper:peat waste paper:chicken manure waste paper:rise husks and also, 80:20 of the same.

Thanks for that link pinback ! That means that the highest yields where obtained with a 80:20 mixture of waste-paper:rice-husks. I wonder how the addition of straw would influence the yields ...

In the pdf file pinback provided the authors are talking about the "lamp spawning method". Does anybody know how that method works ?
