REMOVAL OF SUBSTRATE....
    #2958967 - 08/03/04 04:53 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

i may be wrong but a little bit of mycellium covering substrate has turned a yellows/beige coloue. it is just a plastic container in the bottom of a bucket covered in clingfilm basically. i am sure this is a mould beginning to form and as it is such a tiny part i want to get rid of this, any advice on cutting this out or things to bear in mind. sorry, know its a real basic bit of knowledge but this is my first ever grow...cheers people.

ok is it a cake or a casing?
if the substrate is fully colonized there should be no problem dabbing off this mycelial waste with a tissue.

i can be sure if it's a contam or mycelial waste, or if you should even remove the substrate.

does the substrate look really wet? how does it smell? if it is a bacterial infection, chances of saving all of the substrate are very slim. now if it's just a little myco peepee, let it go for a little while. if it doesnt' go away after a couple days, i guess you have to risk exposing you sterile substrate to the dirty air. unless you make a glovebox for a sterile environment or get a flowhood.

i'm sure some other people have some better ideas.....

if you have to do it, be swift about it. be sanitary.
