I added a 5lb block of wine cap spawn to the flower garden. After a week, my wife decided to dig up a line of plants she had in there for 10 years. Of course it's right where I put the spawn, and of course, she left the colonized chips all over the place and they dried out. I moved all the spread out chips back to where I had them and tried to fix as much as I could. 2 weeks later, I was at work when she did this, she dug into it again adding more flowers. When I saw what she did I tried to flip as much of the chips over and hydrate them. I didn't say anything to her about it so she doesn't get upset, but I specifically asked so I could add the spawn and let it go undisturbed for the season, hopefully getting some tasty mushrooms.
Any chance she didn't kill them? How resilient are wine caps to being dug up almost weekly?

Further documentation of yeast increasing yield, fruit size and color. If you can ferment your own sawdust in a pile outside in the summer enough for winter you should be good. I added a packet of quick brewers yeast. I have kept adding sawdust and sugar. Bagged a sample of sawdust and it smelt like alcohol in 24 hours.
