I think you got more side/bottom pins because you punished all 6 sides.  That made for good microclimates all around the substrates. Especially in the small spaces between the sub and tub walls.

Even if you flipped the cakes, the same thing would likely happen with the “new” bottom.  Once the sub shrinks away from the walls there is a tendency for more side/bottom pinning.

I don’t use a sprayer. Just rinse under running water and brush off with bare hands.  Guess I’m not as stern of a punisher as Beef :rofl:

Beef mentioned the cake being covered in spores as if that is undesirable. When we used to pick shrooms in our pasture that we dubbed "the valley of the gods" from which my friends ended up with enough garbage bags full of shrooms to follow Widespread Panic all over North America selling mushrooms in the parking lot before the shows. Our method of wild cultivation was to thump the tops of any shrooms we found to dump the spores on top of the patty, and pinch off the stem rather than "uprooting" them and when we'd return, there would inevitably be 10 times what we found initially. My question here is are the presence of spores going to hinder the second flush?

updated OP. Please check it out. I started doing a toplayer after punishment and then keeping it heavily misted and the results have been stunning.
this is the THIRD flush of Sporeless GT which already gave me a first flush canopy, a second flush of CHONKERS, and a third flush these guys:

I have a shoebox of ochras that are being stubborn giving a 2nd flush. Pinned heavily but never went past tiny pins. I’m
Gonna fuck this one up with a punishment and then give it sone tlc with a new top layer. Got nothing to lose!

I tried doing this tek, and it's seriously putting out some bigguns. My last batch of shoeboxes didn't have many large fruits. After punishing it, I had a 90g fatty pop up super quick, followed by a strong pinset. I'm having some similar results on the third flushes of these shoeboxes.
