Poppy Options?
    #2953989 - 08/02/04 12:02 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

well this evening i stumbled acrossed a massive field of seemingly untouched poppys in the woods near where i go ATVing. In a rush to get home i managed to grab four plants. by the time i had gotten home none of the plants were in good enough shape to replant. What options do I have now that i cant slice them? i have a huge amount of seeds, would planting them and getting any results be a huge task? and as far as use of the plants, what options besides pod putty do i have? including use of the stems....thanks!

i havnt had any success replanting largish plants. did ok with seedlings. they just dont seem to like it in my case. replant seeds, they grow fast. back when i grew them (not for opium) they took about 3 months to pod in our lovly climate. i could easily get 3 gens with this years weather, no problem. i think you could still get a harvest in if you planted asap.

may want to make sure your not destroying someone elses crop...may be a bad thing.

you could dry the pods, grind them up, and make tea of them... it works good still and gives you quite an amazing buzz... theres some posts on the shroomery about it and online in certain places if u just use ur head about searching correctly.

I would save the seeds and sprinkle some now, so they over winter and germinate in spring, and sprinkle a few more in spring. And make tea from the empty pods :-)
P'S, you are 100% there the correct poppy speices right?

If you decide to plant the seeds for harvest this year, put them in the freezer overnight first. They need cold shock to germinate; this makes them think it's spring.
