Yeah I wonder if putting dung with it inside the blender would work better? Or maybe just doing cakes in the blender and then mixing them with pasteurized dung by hand?
Some experts, please help

I've always heard that putting a cake in the blender damages the mycellium, but who am I to say. I've never tried it.

B....YES IT IS ANNOYING!!! Stop doing it! People read past the first page...Trust me! Why don't you try it a tell US if it works. Rather than asking us if it works (we have never done it). Sounds like a mess in your f**king blender and unnecessary ! A crumbled cake in your compost will colonize fast enough! They don't grow overnight! Go away with this question!

Sorry bro for annoyin ya. I jus tthink the idea is genius, it just seems very efficient vs breaking up cakes. I just think it would work beautifully.

No worries Bob. Taz is right though. A colonized cake is resistant to contams because all the surface of the cake is covered with fungus. When you go shreding one up, the insides where bits of rice etc are you will be exposing this uncolonized substrate to all sorts of funk! Particularly in a blender. A cake that is crumbled gently into compost and placed in a draft free area gets a chance to quickly colonize the areas you have exposed in the crumbling process. The reduces the risk of contamination. You can just as easily spread the mycelium through the compost by mixing it up a couple of days after crumbling the cake in there. Regardless of how fast you can get the mycelium spread throughout the compost, it still needs a few days to make a nice tight network for digesting. So yeah, you can blend it up, then let it sit for 5 or 6 days or you can just mix it up an by the time the mycelium overtakes the compost, it will be ready to go....
