dunking and then slicing?

My "friend" is almost done incubating these 1/2 pints and she was reading here that cutting the cakes in half would double the amount of yield. The faq i read was not very informative however. She is wondering if she dunks these cakes and then SLices them in half, and THEN rolls them, will her yield be greater than had she just dunked and rolled a whole one. Also how will this affect future flushes.
I would imagine that making them smaller would not allow for more than maybe one flush. If anyone knows please lemme in on this very curious

yes dunk them before slicing. however, when you slice 'em you don't roll, you just case them. hope that helps :peace:

the tek i read just talked about cutting them in half and growing them as cakes. AFOAF is casing rye but also wants to try the cake route. Being as such, she does not want to case the 1/2 pints (brf pf tek)but wants to cake them....to the max. So no....that really didnt provide to much useful info

heeey now its not me its my "friend" :-P

But would that affect the amount the amount of flushes?
I am sure that it would yield more but the flushes man...THE FLUSHES

I have talked about this very thing much over past few days. If you dunk them 12 hours then slice them in half the long way and lay them cut side down into a tray. Push them close toghter. Then cover with your casing about an inch deep and cover them up. After about a week at 80-84 deg. you should see myc. pooking thru the casing. It will be long pointy fiber looking myc. That is what you want. The end of those things is where mushroom pins form. Now put the whole thing in your humidty chamber and in about another 4-7 days pins! First a few then you pick a few.... Then Holy Crap!!! They start pinning frikin everywhere. The only thing you need to watch for is first, NEVER let the surface of your casings to get wet. I know ,I have read that a perfect casing mix will drip a few drops of water when you squeeze it but, experience has shown me if the top 1/8 inch of casing is almost dry then things always do very well. It will be a learning curve. Remeber this- TOO WET, containments for sure - TOO DRY and you can just add moisture, things are fine. As far as the number of flushes? If you case your cakes and keep the mositure levels at optimal then you can expect 3-6 flushes. With the second and third being.. let's say HEAVY! Also if you after the fourth flush scrape the top inch of so of the tired myc. then recase with fresh casing. You are on your way to maxium yeilds. The guy to ask about this type of thing is a member called MAGASH, he knows his shit. I hope I was helpful I am not good at building a grow log or anything like that.

yea, magash most certainly does "know his shit" i've peeped his terrarium and was thoroughly impressed. Thanks for the info. I'll make sure those get cased, im sure otherwise she would have just plopped em in there.

Fucknuckle, I am a little confused, are you suggesting dunking the cake right after you have birthed it from the jar? Then slicing/breaking it up and casing it?
