maybe use a cooler? depending on how many jars you have, larger coolers tend to get expensive. boil some water or heat something up (a new fishtank thermometer might come in handy), put it in the cooler to get the temperature right and then seal it with your jars, should be well enough insulated to keep the temperatures in the right range for a few days.

or else use a heating pad or hot water bag or something in place of the heater in the tub in tub, just make sure not to put any water in with a heating pad.

I have used this method many times and it works very good.. Take a cooler ( big one ) and put your jars in the bottom , no water. Cover them up with a thick cloth. Go where you keep the X-mas lights and get a strand of 25 lights. Open your cooler and drap them accros the top and shut the lid. NOW HERE IS THE IMOPRTANT PART..... Never use more than 10-15 lights. Let the rest hang outside the cooler. IT WILL GET TO HOT VERY QUICK. Put a temp gauge in there and watch it for a couple of hours, days. Adjust temp by adding one or two lights at a time until you find the sweet spot 82-84 deg. This works great once you know how many lights to use for your cooler. I have done this in the middle of winter in the garage with no problem, just it took more lights. Remeber to cover your jars as the light can cause invetro growth before you want it.

im using a cooler at the moment too, a big 100quart one. i got the temperature up to where i wanted it with the fishtank thermometer i had around, and then took it out. the temp has stayed perfectly level so far for about a day now, if it starts to drop too far you can just give it boost of heat and it will stay in there. i ended up doing this because i didnt have a submersible heater, so i couldnt do tub->tub.

doing this though i put a temperature sensor into a fold in a mycobag to try and get a better estimate of what the actual temperature inside the center of the subtrate is, instead of only air temp.
