Someone I know is growing these and I would like to know what the thin stringy ones are. I know the b+, but the others are a mystery. Thanks in advance.

That's the first flush. My friend mixes 2 parts Scott's 3 in 1 compost with 1 part vermiculite and a handful of crushed oyster shells. He also likes to mix different varietys together, just for the fun of it.

Well, they are all growing from the same shit. I'd say they are all B+ and the stringy shits are called hyphs and they are developing mushrooms.

Don't know about that, he's been growing them for a while now and those are definately not like anything that he has grown, ever. They definately come from a syringe that was bought from a shroomery sponcer. Tampanesis?

Sorry man, I just went through all the FAQ's and couldn't find the answer. I thought that a good hunter would know what they were. Sorry if I posted it in the wrong place. BTW, do you know what they are?

My apologies. I just took a closer look. It looks to me like your shrooms are infested with some kind of coral mushroom. That is incredibly weird!

I'd agree, looks like some sort of coral mushroom. I doubt the spores came from the syringe, probably from the poo. Perhaps it wasn't PCed long enough.

There are some Pyrenomycetes which grow parasitically on other mushrooms, but I think those look more like Clavaria; that's just a guess. I can't find edibility info on these but I know they are not active, and probably not poisonous. They certainly should not be eaten. If I were you I would pick the shrooms you have and pitch the rest. Those things are producing spores and you probably don't want too many of those floating around to contaminate what ever else you have growing or plan to grow.
Someone else may be able to give a better answer.
A better ID will require more info. Are they smooth or wrinkled? Solid on the inside or with chambers? Woody, gelatinous, fragile, or rubbery? anything you can tell us.

My friend will appreciate your input. The b+ have been harvested and the others will be discarded as per your advise. Just wish I knew what they were.

Hm. That's kinda wicked man. You've got Psilocybe cubensis in there though. [edit by concrete: do not advise eating unidentified fungi in this forum *ever*, contamination or otherwise.]

I'll take a free sample, but I need samples of both species for... um... comparison studies.

i dunno, ive never seen anything like it before.
at first i thought it could be coral fungus, and second i thought it could be a type of really stringy panaeolus or even copelandia or coprinus, third i dismissed them being those and back to coral fungus
Ive never seen anything like it before.
The cubes look healthy though.
obviously a wild-spore took hold, most likely from within your casing layer?? -the spores of the other fungus must have came from your casing or something air-born or whatnot.
