Well after leaving Ma Sot, Burma we went up 1000 meters altitude in the Taksinmaharat National Park named in honor of the Great Thai King Taskin, He is the hero of all Thai people who brought them all together as one after the 1767 invasion of Ayuthaya by the Burmese disease. Here is what it was like at 7 am in the morning of Friday before your friday. Here is the lawn of the lodge where I and my colleague, our driver and five girl students stayed while we collected the mycorhizal fungi and other interesting items. And it was here in this very lawn that Prakitsin said to me, "John I think that mushroom is het keequai." Since I saw no buffalo or shit I did not believe it for a minute so I sat down to photograph the mushroom in the lawn and here is what I noticed. Look at the strange grass in a clay soil environment. Light blue spots on the cap And here we placed the shroom in a black box for taking a proper photo. I have many more images. Later we learned from the park rangers, all young kids in their mid to late twenties who had worked there for years, never once saw a hed kee quai shroom but had seen hundreds of other mushrooms. WE treked through miles of dense jungles, photographed snakes, bears, rabbits, peacocks, all kinds of wierd insects and such. I will post a pictorial when I come home in Sept. The ranger who led us through the jungles and hill tribes told us they had dried powdered buffalo shit which they sprinkle on the grounds so the grass will grow. They showed us an inclosed shed with aluminum roofing over dried powdered wild hill-tribe buffalo shit. This is at an altitude of one thousand meters high in the Tak region of Thailand. \ AS for photos, I have not yet began to post. I am too busy now. this week I will do SEM of four species. Have a shroomy week, mj ps. there mwere many other shrooms we collected so you will see a few surprises. Here is a butterfly I saw in the woods. and a caterpilar. One of many. Sorry its on another computer here in the room. bye mj

That's awesome. It's not the most appealing cubensis (looks wise), but still a good find. I predict that cubensis will take over all lawns! Not really, but that would be cool.

Sweet find Mushroom John.
I especially like the first and fourth pics.
- yeah, nice fourth picture dude, good ruler, good backround, good lookin shroom too.
its neat how you were able to talk with the people there and find out how they put the buff-low dung in the grass.
i found one in a lawn once, in manatee county florida, in the lawn of a newly constructed college.
stay safe brother-man, get your booty back to seattle and in the united states already.
