What books are you reading at the moment?

What is your favourite book?

Who is your favourite author/s?

I'm reading Graham Greene. So far I've read Heart of the Matter, The Comedians and Our man in Havana. I liked The Comedians best, and ..Havana is hilarious. Now I'm starting on another Greene book called End of the affair.

Currently I'm reading Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle. It's pretty interesting, but I can't seem to finish it... I'm actually on my way out to get "The Destiny of Miro" by Julie Rae Rickard. Has anyone read this?

My favorite books are Illusions by Richard Bach and House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski.

tomu: I think I read part of the End of the affair for one of my literature classes. Greene really is a great writer.

I'm trying to read Gravity's Rainbow but it's slow going, it keeps sending me to sleep.

My fave author is RAW.

Some of my fave books are Tigana, Illuminatus! Trilogy and Snow Crash.

In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.

And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.

"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

Wow, I'm reading that same book at the moment. Pretty neat to see the thinkers that shaped Western thinking.

I like Vonnegaut Jr. alot and I just finished reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance so I'd put that as number one on my list of books. Amazing stuff.

i'm re-reading the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.by Sogyal Rinpoche.
just finshed The Da Vince Code, and after that Down and out in Paris and London.

my favorite author would have to be Poe, Hemingway, or....... hmmm Gorey. yea Gorey for sure. Although he doesn't really write novels, more of a short story kind of guy. awesome illustrations and a weird creepy quirkiness to his writing.

The book is pretty interesting, not read much into it so far but my hatred for America is rapidly rising..haha.

Have you read "Guts" by Chuck Palahniuk? It's a really gross short story it's certainly not for the faint hearted

It was a toss up between Choke and Invisible Monsters. I'll have to go pick that up next tonight or tomorrow.

Im slowly reading 'A Seperate Reality' by Castaneda. very cool book. its about a man's spiritual journey with a mysterious indian guide. they go through all sorts of crazy episodes together.

also just started 'The High Valley' by Kenneth Read.
its a documentary'ish book written from Read's perspective when he stayed with a primitive New guinea tribe.

Jesus...I had to walk away from that about 3/4 of the way through for a breather.  Goatse has nothing on that.  :lipsrsealed:

While we're posting free short stories (I don't think this one's as nauseating  ), I quite like this Neil Gaiman one. It's a Sherlock Holmes tale with a Lovecraftian twist.
A Study in Emerald :cthulhu:
